Skjervsfossen waterfall
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Ulvik, following the shores of the Ulvikfjord and Osafjord before joining the Hardangerfjord, with wonderful views of the iconic Hardanger Bridge along the way. After travelling through the Vallavik Tunnel, you’ll arrive at the spectacular Skjervsfossen waterfall.
You’ll have around 30 minutes to explore this impressive natural attraction. A short walk of approximately 100–150 metres takes you right to the foot of the waterfall, where you can admire the rushing water from close range and experience The Shower – a specially designed viewing area that lets you feel the full force of the waterfall. If there’s been heavy rainfall, don’t be surprised if you get a little wet!
After 30 minutes, the coach will be waiting at the same place to continue the journey.
Espelandsdalen and Espelandsdalen waterfall
The tour continues through the beautiful Espelandsdalen Valley, a peaceful landscape of mountain lakes, rivers and cascading waterfalls, including views of the impressive Espelandsfossen waterfall.
The road through the valley, completed in 1901, was the first land route connecting Ulvik with the surrounding region, allowing local people to travel without relying on boats.
Ulvik viewpoint
Before descending back to the village, we’ll stop at a spectacular viewpoint high above Ulvik. From here you can enjoy panoramic views across the village, the fjord, orchards and surrounding mountains – a perfect opportunity for photographs.

The fruit and cider route
On the return journey, the coach follows the picturesque Fruit and Cider Route, passing orchards and traditional cider farms that have made Hardanger famous.
We recommend getting off the coach here to visit one or more of the cider farms before enjoying a leisurely walk back to the harbour. The walk offers beautiful views across the fjord and takes you through the heart of Ulvik’s fruit-growing landscape. The three farms are located approximately 2.9 km, 2.3 km and 1.9 km from the cruise ship.
