The Norwegian Nature Centre celebrates 30 years of operation in 2025 and is almost like an institution in Eidfjord. Get there by bus like a local from Eidfjord centre to Øvre (Upper) Eidfjord and experience it yourself. The bus journey takes 10 minutes one way. 

The interactive museum experience starts with a spectacular panorama video that showcases the variety of Hardanger’s landscapes and nature. Following the film, you can walk through the interesting exhibition of 2.9 billion years of nature’s history.  

Next door to the Nature Centre, you find a restaurant and café and a souvenir shop. If you want to have lunch here, make sure to book the option with the most time.  

Return to Eidfjord centre by bus.

The centre is located in Øvre Eidfjord, just 7 km from Eidfjord, on the scenic road leading to Vøringsfoss and Hardangervidda National Park.

When is Norwegian Nature Centre open?

We’re open daily from April to October, 10:00–18:00.

Do I need to book in advance?

Advance booking is recommended in the high season (June–August), especially for larger groups, but it’s not required for regular visits.

Is Norwegian Nature Centre suitable for children?

Yes, absolutely. Kids love the interactive stations, the exciting film experience, and the hands-on learning activities designed for all ages.

Is the centre wheelchair accessible?

This tour is a return ticket using the local bus from Eidfjord sentrum.

Please be at the meeting point 15 minutes before departure.

No guiding on the bus. The exhibition is available in 13 languages (Norwegian, English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese and Chinese).

Dogs and other pets: not allowed

Accessibility: most buses have a ramp or a lift. The centre is wheelchair friendly with universal design.
