Sustainability

In Book Hardanger, we believe that what we do can have a great influence on the future of our planet. Sustainability is therefore crucial in our day-to-day activity and we keep on looking for ways and ideas to have as little negative, and as much positive impact on the environment, local culture and economy as possible.

In 2024, we are planning to go through certification process for the Eco Lighthouse badge. We are currently in the preparation phase, but we believe that we will be able to obtain the certificate by the end of the year.

In the work with our partners, the product owners, we map and gather information on how they work with sustainability, so that we can have as good picture of our common influence on the environment as possible.

In terms of social sustainability, we want to contribute as much as possible to the development of Hardanger region as a whole-year destination, therefore providing stable working conditions not only at our own company, but also at our partners. Our ambition is also to make Hardanger a universally designed, accessible destination to the best extent possible.

Economically, by developing the Hardanger into a full-year destination, we want to contribute to stable profitability of the tourism companies. In addition to that, as our owners have decided, our own profits will be re-invested back in the area in order to improve the quality of the whole tourism industry here even more.
