The Norwegian Nature Centre celebrates 30 years of operation in 2025 and is almost like an institution in Eidfjord. Get there by bus like a local from Eidfjord centre to Øvre (Upper) Eidfjord and experience it yourself. The bus journey takes 10 minutes one way. 

The interactive museum experience starts with a spectacular panorama video that showcases the variety of Hardanger’s landscapes and nature. Following the film, you can walk through the interesting exhibition of 2.9 billion years of nature’s history.  

Next door to the Nature Centre, you find a restaurant and café and a souvenir shop. If you want to have lunch here, make sure to book the option with the most time.  

Return to Eidfjord centre by bus.

How much does it cost to visit Norsk Natursenter?

Entry tickets are 180 NOK for adults and 100 NOK for children. Family tickets and group discounts are also available, making it easy for everyone to enjoy the experience.

When is Norsk Natursenter open?

We’re open daily from April to October, 10:00–18:00. The centre is closed during winter, but group visits can be arranged by appointment.

How long should I plan for a visit?

Most visitors spend around 1 hour and 15 minutes exploring the exhibitions and watching the film.

Do I need to book in advance?

Advance booking is recommended in the high season (June–August), especially for larger groups, but it’s not required for regular visits.

Is Norsk Natursenter suitable for children?

Is the centre wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the entire centre is designed for universal accessibility, with lifts, ramps and accessible restrooms.

Yes. Our restaurant serves warm, locally inspired lunch dishes, cakes, snacks and freshly brewed coffee – perfect before or after your visit.

Is parking available?

Free parking is available for both cars and buses right outside the centre.

Combine your visit with a trip to the mighty Vøringsfossen, go hiking on Hardangervidda, or join a fjord safari and outdoor activities in Eidfjord. It’s an ideal starting point for exploring the Hardanger region.

Yes, we offer guided tours for groups, companies and school classes. Advance booking is required.

How do I get to Norsk Natursenter?

You can arrive by car, take a bus from Voss or Bergen, or use the shuttle bus from Eidfjord that connects with the fjord boat.

No guiding on the bus. The exhibition is available in 13 languages (Norwegian, English, German, French, Dutch, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Polish, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese and Chinese).

Dogs and other pets: not allowed

Accessibility: most buses have a ramp or a lift. The centre is wheelchair friendly with universal design.
