You can drive there yourself but fret not if you don’t have a car. The Vøringsfossen Waterfall Tours is a sightseeing tour by bus to Vøringsfossen that takes you straight from the quay in Eidfjord centre to the waterfall. There, you have about 1 hour to explore the astonishing 182-metre-tall fall from different angles.
There are designated walkways and viewing platforms on both sides of the waterfall, and a stair bridge connects the two. The part closest to where you get off the bus is accessible to wheelchair users and strollers.
Stop by the café at Fossli Hotel (Note: closed for the season)
Spend some time admiring the spectacular waterfall and the dramatic Måbødalen Valley, before retreating to Fossli Hotel for a refreshing drink, a waffle or a piece of one of their many cakes. The hotel opened in 1891 and has the most magical location at the top of the waterfall.
On chilly days, you can sit inside the cosy, traditional café. On warmer days, we recommend sitting outside to enjoy the views of the valley and the mountain plateau.
Return to Eidfjord from the same place you left the bus. Look for the Book Hardanger sign in the windshield, as there may be a different bus for the return.
This sightseeing tours is available on cruise days only. On other days, please check out Vøringsfossen sightseeing tour incl. the entry to the Norwegian Nature Centre.
