Route 7 is one of Norway’s official National Scenic Routes and crosses Hardangervidda, Europe’s largest mountain plateau, connecting western and eastern Norway.
Hardangervidda is known for its rugged terrain, characterized by barren, treeless moorland punctuated by shimmering pools, lakes, meandering rivers and streams, provides a picturesque backdrop for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
On this small group tour, you travel up to Dyranut Fjellstove, a hidden gem located 1,245 metres above sea level. From here you can walk up a small hill nearby and enjoy a magnificent 360-degree panoramic view across the mountain plateau.
If Dyranut Fjellstove is open, you will also have the opportunity to enjoy something to eat or drink before the journey back to Eidfjord.

Will I experience Hardangervidda National Park on this tour?
Although the tour does not take you directly into the national park itself, you will still experience the spectacular landscapes that Hardangervidda is famous for.
Hardangervidda National Park covers a vast area of around 3,422 km², and only a small part of it lies along National Road 7, where this small-group tour travels.
Does this tour include Vøringsfossen Waterfall?
This tour does not include a stop at Vøringsfossen Waterfall. However, you will drive past the area and get a glimpse of the impressive canyon that leads up to the waterfall.
If you would like to visit Vøringsfossen, you can either book a small group tour to Vøringsfossen or join one of the scheduled bus tours.
Is the tour suitable for strollers or wheelchairs?
The hike up the small hill is unfortunately not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. However, the road and the area around Dyranut Fjellstove are relatively flat and accessible.
Please let us know in advance if you require a wheelchair-friendly vehicle, so we can arrange the appropriate taxi.
Also inform us if you are travelling with young children, so that we can provide suitable child seats.
When is the best time to visit?
The National Scenic Route can be experienced throughout the year. However, spring, summer and autumn (May–October) usually offer the most enjoyable conditions.
What should I wear?
Dyranut and the surrounding mountain plateau lie 1,245 metres above sea level, where the weather can change quickly. We therefore recommend bringing warm and waterproof clothing.
If you plan to take the short hike up the hill, you should also wear sturdy footwear with good grip, even in summer, as mountain weather conditions can change rapidly.
Where do I meet the taxi?
The taxi will be waiting near Eidfjord Tourist Office, close to the median strip between Coop and Vøringfoss Hotel.

The tour runs with a taxi car or van.
We need a minimum of 4 participants to run the tour. We will contact you to offer an alternative if the minimum is not reached.
Reservations for the same day can only be booked at the Tourist Information in Eidfjord.
